Was at the NY Premiere of Eames: The Architect and the Painter–it was part of the Architecture and Design Film Festival. And it was really great to see it with an audience. Afterwards, there was a Q and A with Bill Jersey (one of the directors) and I taking questions from the audience which was alot of fun. I had not really seen Bill since the shoot.
I also spoke to a guy from Canada who had never heard of Charles and Ray before the screening (his daughter-in-law, an architect, dragged him there) and he was blown away by Charles and Ray’s work. And that is really what one hopes for in a film like this–that is will convey a bit of the magic that inspires people to pursue further exploration.
For me personally it was extremely rewarding to see the film on the big screen. The digital effect of the House of Cards was great, but more than that, the film looked beautiful–and to see some of those still and videos full frame was stupendous (not to mention how they shot the house). The shots of the Eames House with the crane were just wonderful.
